UPDATE: This problem was caused by a bug in either Ubuntu or XCP, I’m not sure. I was not doing something wrong, I was just the victim of a problem with the kernel. A couple other people reported the same issue and discovered, as I did, that if you reboot your host machine, it will work sometimes. This is not OK but life goes on.

Can someone please help me? Nova requires access to /sys/hypervisor/uuid on DomU, which is Ubuntu 12.04 but 12.10 had the same problem. Whenever anything tries to access it, it gives an access denied error. It’s not permissions, it’s not user. It seems to work the first time I boot the machine but not on subsequent boots. Please, please, please help me out here. chris AT subvertallmedia DOT com.

I’m going to write way more about this soon.
